AboutDeb
THE BASICS
I started Nourished Body|Satisfied Soul because I am committed to helping people
transition to a healthy lifestyle. I am a passionate advocate for animals, the environment
& natural health, & my goal is to teach my students both the WHY & HOW of being vegan.
There are so many incredible benefits to a diet full of only plant foods! My Food for Life
cooking/nutrition classes present the latest research studies & scientific evidence so you
understand the link between diet & diseases including heart disease, diabetes, & cancer.
In both my raw food & vegan cooking classes, I show you simple, nutritious, delicious ways
to incorporate plant-based meals into your daily diet so you are able to eliminate the
animal products -- all dairy, eggs, & meat (yes, that includes fishes, too!).
AN ENGINEER IS GOING TO TEACH ME ABOUT HEALTH? HUH?
I'm a full-time engineer in the automotive industry & part-time educator. So I get that people are very busy & don't have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. So what does engineering have to do with health, nutrition, & cooking? Well, I've been streamlining manufacturing, service & business processes for 25 years, & have now applied my knowledge to food preparation. I design my recipes to be easy & quick enough for the novice vegan or raw foodie while also providing new & tasty ideas for the experienced chef. You will walk away from my classes with the practical tools you need to make flavorful plant foods that satisfy both your cravings & nutritional needs every day.

MY DIET
When someone finds out I'm vegan, I usually get a ton of questions about my diet. "What do you eat?" "It must be tough to eat out, huh?" And of course, "Where do you get your protein?" In general, I strive to eat at least 50% raw because I feel so much better when I do. I have more energy & better digestion when I consume plenty of uncooked, unprocessed veggies & fruits (especially lots of dark leafy greens!). While I may not always eat 100% raw, I am ALWAYS 100% vegan. For answers to the other questions, take one of my classes! We discuss those things & lots more at each one.
Lastly, for all you fellow vegans out there, I know you're wondering if I'm really truly a vegan or whether I use honey or other bee products like some "vegans" (a.k.a. "bee-gans") & raw foodies do. Not to worry though, all of my recipes, both cooked & raw, are 100% VEGAN. To read more about why honey is NOT vegan (besides the fact that it's bee vomit, yuck!), check out the following links: VegSource.com or GentleWorld.org and
